Hand-sorting grapes during a crush
Our wine fermenting in the barrels
The final result: ultra premium wine

Welcome!

The winemaking at Woodenhead is pure and simple or, if you will, Burgundian done California-style. Our wine is handcrafted from a hard labor of love in tune to the natural rhythm of the land, the water, the air, and the seasons. No mechanical pumping is employed. Inoculated yeast and malolactic cultures, hand punching, basket pressing, French oak, and California fruit is what you get. Small and unique lots are our goal, ultra premium wine is the result.

What's New

Two of our wines received GREAT REVIEWS in the December 2014 issue of Wine & Spirits Magazine!

Our 2013 French Colombard got 90 points! The French Colombard comes "from the heart of the Russian River Valley along River Road." It has "a texture that's round enough to hold its acidity in balance" and has a "spicy wildflower honey scent."

The 2011 Russian River Pinot Noir received 92 points! The Russian River Pinot Noir is described as "the rich, sweet red fruit that defines the Russian River" and "has a refreshing herbal tone lifting the sunny fruit."

We received medals for all three wines entered in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competion 2015 GOLD MEDAL for our 2012 Lester Family Vineyards, Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir, a SILVER MEDAL for our 2010 Wiley Vineyard, Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, and a BRONZE MEDAL for our 2012 Mariah Vineyard, Mendocino Ridge Zinfandel!
